Lord, My Prayer for Today

Dear Lord, our Father in Heaven, please hear my prayer for this day and for always...

Please fill me with Your spirit and guide me in all that I think, say, and do. Help me to do only that which pleases and glorifies You. I belong to You completely, for I was bought with the price of your son, Jesus Christ. Let me be filled with the knowledge of your will for me and with care that I do not act in an ungodly manner.

I pray, put a guard on my mouth. Help me to maintain a presence of mind, reflecting on my thoughts before speaking them and repenting of them if they would be displeasing to you. Let me listen to what others have to say rather than speaking of myself. Give me victory over all manner of selfishness.

Help me to not give ground to worry, frustration, or impatience, as these too, are doorways to sin. I will trust in You always, with all things, and have no reason to be anxious, instead being calmed by Your peace.

With that peace, give me freedom from anger. Anger sows the seeds where the devil reaps, but with You, I will not allow myself to be of his harvest.

Remind me to be content with all You have blessed me with. Let me not find discontent in this life, for I have the knowledge that in my relationship with You I am blessed beyond all things of this world.

Let me be thankful in all circumstances You place before me and to seek the lessons therein, that I might grow in the manner You wish me to. Keep me mindful that Your wisdom exceeds all and that I will not understand all that happens, for such understanding is not always my place. I rest in the knowledge that Your grace is sufficient.

Strengthen me before the sin of pride, that I will not fall to it. Keep me aware that I am not to judge others or to consider their place as above or below me, for we are all Your creatures. All I have and all I am are by Your hand, not mine.

Keep me in the knowledge that I have no reason to seek worldliness, for this is not my world, I am merely passing through here. I know that my true home exists above the sun, and I so long to come home.
